Saliva - Cinco Diablo Music Review By RipperEagle Rating: 4.3
Back in 2001, Saliva debuted with “Every Six Seconds” and became radio darlings with three ready to roll singles. From “Back Into Your System” to “Survival of the Sickest”, their sound changed, but it was never more apparent then on “Blood Stained Love Story,” where their sound took a dramatic turn for the worst. Could they find a medium on their 5th release for Island Records, or would Josey Scott and company prove they are still relevant in the rock scene?
1. Family Reunion (5) -The big single: sounds an AWFUL lot like “Ladies and Gentlemen.” 2. My Own Worst Enemy (5) -Straight forward rocker: in spots, Scott sounds an awful lot like Kid Rock. 3. Best of Me (5) -Seems like the songs about relationships were just around the corner… 4. How Could You? (5) -I don’t know if this qualifies as a love song due to the lyrics, but it is great as is. A great slower to mid-tempo piece. 5. Hunt you Down (5) -Harkens back to “Survival of the sickest”. Line that makes me laugh, “Oh yeah, looks like we’re on the floor again, hell yeah”. Great guitar solo @ 2:40. 6. Judgment Day (5) -A tribute song/ situation song with Scott writing about being in Iraq. 7. Forever and a Day (3) -The “true” love song of the album: cheesy and sappy but hey, what’d you expect? 8. I’m Coming Back (4) -Not a bad song: starts off strong but has breakdowns over the verses. 9. Southern Girls (4) -In an ode to Motley Crue, Saliva crank out this song for the Southern ladies. 10. So Long (2) -WOW! WHO REPLACED SALIVA WITH COLDPLAY? WHO DUN IT?

They are good. I just can't figure out how Chris Martin and Coldplay got in the last song here.

Ugh, I know it's cool to experiment, just ask Incubus and ones like them, but it sounds like a full knock off.
