Static-X - Cult of Static Music Review
By RipperEagle
Rating: 4.6

Released on March 17th 2009, “Cult of Static” is the sixth studio album from Wayne Static and his crew. At the base of it all, this sounds nothing out of the ordinary for the “Disco-Metal” band, but some of the songs incorporate more sound effects in them then usual. Still an overall enjoyable listen and for the most part, it fits in well with their past releases, “Start a War” and “Cannibal.”

1. Lunatic (5)
-Features Dave Mustaine of Megadeth: song used in “Punisher: Warzone” movie.
2. Z28 (4)
-Named after the Camaro, perhaps?
3. Terminal (5)
-Nothing out of the ordinary.
4. Hypure (5)
-Sounds like a carbon copy of “Dirthouse” from “Start A War“.
5. Tera-Fied (4)
-Boy, this is weird, even for these guys: intro and middle are quite strange.
6. Stingwray (5)
-Right back to normal: techno, disco, and metal together, or so they say.
7. You Am I (4)
-On the shorter side, reminds me of “I Am” from “Wisconsin Deathtrip”.
8. Isolaytore (5)
-Another short song (2:46) but a well put together and harder song.
9. Nocturnally (5)
-Standard fare here: I THINK that is supposed to be a woman screaming when Wayne is singing the chorus, but I COULD be wrong.
10. Skinned (5)
-I don’t think there is anything I can say here, you liked the rest, this one is good.
11. Grind 2 Halt (4)
-You remember what 8-bit and 16-bit music used to sound like on the NES and SNES? Yeah, I swear the synth work sounds like that in this song.
