| Bon Jovi - Crossroads Music Review By RipperEagle Rating: 4.4
During the late 80’s, hair metal and glam rock were all the rave. Bands like Poison, Warrant, Ratt, and Guns ‘N Roses were the best And yet, by 1994, most of these bands struggled to remain together, or were already doing a reunion tour. Such was not the case with New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi, who as the times changed they changed their brand of music and also cut their hair when it was no longer cool to have hair longer then your groupies. They released a best of in 1994 with a few new cuts, and to this day, they are still together, which only further advances the fact that they have withstood all the genre changes and remained relevant.
1. Livin on a Prayer (5) -Vintage Bon Jovi, great song to start off the CD with. 2. Keep the Faith (4) -One of the strongest tracks off of the aptly named CD from 1992. 3. Saturday Night (4) -One of the new tracks for the release: not a bad song at all, more for a dreamer. 4. Always (5) -I have liked this song for a while now, great ballad: another new one for 1994. 5. Wanted Dead or Alive (4) -One of the solo songs Jon wrote: very much interchangeable with number nine. 6. Lay Your Hands On Me (4) -Big arena rock lead in, sounds like you are in the crowd to me. 7. You Give Love A Bad Name (5) -Stellar song, as big for their success as Prayer was. 8. Bed of Roses (4) -Nice little ballad/song about regret. 9. Blaze of Glory (5) -Featured on the Young Guns movie and soundtrack: another Jon solo song. 10. Prayer 94 (5) -An acoustic dominated redux of the big hit song from seven years earlier. 11. Bad Medicine (5) -Quite the funky little number here. 12. I’ll Be There For You (3) -To me, it just never worked, never a big fan of it, has nothing on number four. 13. In And Out of Love (4) -Pretty fun number. 14. Runaway (5) -Strong choice for the ending: actually off their debut, the only one on here. | |
