| Trust Company - The Lonely Position of Neutral Music Review By RipperEagle Rating: 4.5
Released among the time that bands like Papa Roach, Hoobastank, and Incubus were trying to stake out claim in the same genre, Trust Company’s debut was produced by Don Gilmore for Geffen Records. Released on July 9th, 2002, Trust Company rely on the similar formula as peers in their genre: mixing songs of regret, love, hate, and playing the same beats and rhythms, they could be confused for some other bands they share the stage with. But what sets them apart from the pack?
1. Downfall (5) -Wastes no time starting off with a bang: sets pattern for hard chorus, soft verse. 2. Falling Apart (5) -The big radio single from the album: intro sounds just like “Breath” by Breaking Benjamin, who did the song in 2006: chorus is catchy and sing-along like. 3. Hover (4) -Not bad, similar formula with a slow introduction this time. 4. Running From Me (5) -Same formula as “Hover” but definitely more enjoyable. 5. Slipping Away (4) -Slow intro, fast chorus, slow verse, you know the drill. 6. Figure 8 (5) -Most peculiar bass intro leads to MY favorite song on the album. 7. The Fear (3) -Not as strong as some of the others: spends too much time in slow mode. 8. Deeper Into You (4) -By now, the formula as mentioned from songs 3, 4, and 5 needs no reminder. 9. Drop to Zero (5) -Takes the same approach, but a very good song structurally. 10. Finally (4) -Only song over four minutes on the album: could stand to lose the first minute. 11. Take It All (5) -Ends just like it began: with a bang. | |
